The launch of Cally Munchy at The Africa Centre marked a major step in moving from pop-ups and catering into a permanent cultural and culinary space. More than just a restaurant opening, it was about showcasing the richness and diversity of African cuisine, blending traditional dishes with innovative twists to challenge reductive views and underrepresentation in the UK food scene. With a pan-African menu and a mission to modernise and elevate African flavours, the residency created a platform for culture, education, and community, using food as a gateway to celebrate identity, spark conversation, and bring African cuisine to a wider audience in a refined, contemporary way.
